Scuba course in Punta Cana, D.R.
We’ve been busy updating our travel photo sets over on Flickr – have a look if you’re not familiar with them. And it made me realize how many drop-dead stunning photos have been submitted by Viator travelers recently.
So we’ve selected some of the staff’s favorite tours and things to do in Viator, and posted a handful of our favorite traveler photos (more…)

On the hunt this year for foam and pot stores.
This time last year I posted a list of the top and bottom searches of 2007 that occurred on Viator.com, and in keeping with this new tradition, I’ve updated the list for 2008.
The Viator.com search box gained a ton of searches over 2007’s total – we had more than 1.35 million searches in 2008! Once again, the one-off crazy searches were in many (more…)
I was in Hawaii last week, on the island of Oahu, and took the chance to personally check out the Oahu Shark Dive we offer. You know, sharks. In a cage. Under the water.

Thailand (Bangkok) – voted #34 in 2008
Before we say farewell to 2008, let us take a moment to honor the Top 50 destinations of the year as determined by Viator.com travelers. This is our third annual “Viator Top 50″ list, and like last year, 2008 has been a great ride, full of surprises (good on ya Paris, Rome and Las Vegas) and some surprising absences (Mexico, we missed you).
If you’re (more…)

The scene is all too familiar. A couple hundred people, weary after their flight, bunch around the cold metallic baggage claim, waiting for the first bags to appear. Minutes pass. The conveyors start turning. More minutes pass. Finally bags start falling on to the conveyor. Everyone edges a little closer to the carousel.
An elderly (more…)

Rome – a traveler favorite in 2008
After much pummeling of calculators and mashing of spreadsheets, we’ve calculated our Top 25 Things to Do in Europe for 2008. As always there are some surprises on the list as well as some notable absences. In the former category: Rome and Paris. Both of these great cities continued to dominate travelers’ itineraries in Europe. In fact, given the overwhelming popularity (more…)

This is the second post by Tammie on the topic of solo road trips. Read her first here: Why You Should Go On A Solo Road Trip.

So you’re at least considering a solo road trip? Good! First, realize it’s not brain surgery. The logistics are simple, subjective, and subject to change – a beautiful thing. And keep in mind, SOLO (more…)
When I was 11 years old (nearly 20 years ago), in May of 1989, I took my first tour to Alcatraz Island. My elementary school was a two-hour drive from San Francisco, and this was our big field trip of the year, Alcatraz and the San Francisco Zoo.

I remember my friends and I were super excited to be visiting San Francisco, which seemed so huge and bustling. Now, after (more…)
If you’re already following Viator’s ‘Top 25 Things to Do’ list mania, then no explanation is needed; this is the second-to-last installment in our series of Top Things to Do in 2008, this time focusing on the USA & Canada.
And there are a few surprises. Apparently New York City was and is all the rage in 2008. New York was our most popular North American destination this past year, as evidenced by the number (more…)
